NEW IN 2022! UPDATED CALL FOR ARTISTS!
#VoicesofCLE is excited to announce a new call for artists in 2022!
With completion of more than 30 individual works in 2020, we are excited to announce a brand new season of projects and initiatives, including temporary, permanent, and semi permanent works. All artists, including visual artists but also graphic designers, performers (dance, music, spoken work), wordsmiths and others - especially those representing diverse voices- are invited to submit their short statement of interest.
Artists who applied previously but who would like to submit new works and ideas are also invited to re-submit. All applications are kept on file and artists are contacted throughout the season about possible opportunities. As specific project information becomes available, more detailed requests for proposals may be posted.
Call to ArtistS
Amplifying voices in our community - especially those of color - is more important than ever, and the #VoicesofCLE public art initiative is a call to action for local artists and creators to inspire, communicate and represent through their medium. This effort is meant to provide a platform for freedom of expression and encourage healing while also sparking conversation and action, here and now.
Cleveland is a resilient community based on uniting people from all backgrounds, city neighborhoods, and suburban communities. It’s a place to live, work, play, and do business, that aspires to welcome people of all races and backgrounds. In response to the unrest and social justice imperatives which arose in spring of 2020, business owners and organizations across Downtown Cleveland and beyond have expressed their own frustrations with status quo. These groups have committed to working together with artists, activists, and people of color to respond with creative and artistic strategies to heal, create beauty, and above all, challenge the systems that produce inequity. Join us to create positive change!
